Hippo Paint Schedule

Instruction Steps:

  1. Putty all holes, cracks, nostrils, ears, etc. with a paintable material such as Magic Sculpt. Make sure to detail around base of teeth and gums.

  2. Use Jonas African Ear Base to paint areas that are lighter, such as around eyes, ears, corners of the mouth, etc.

  3. Use Jonas African Gray to paint all other areas of the body, being careful to blend it with the pink areas.

  4. Use Jonas Dark Chocolate Brown to paint eyelids, inside nostrils, and inside inner ears. Also, you can use the same color to shade areas around the mouth.

  5. Use Jonas Black to paint eyelids, inside nostrils, and inner ears.

  6. After paint dries, use a soft cloth to wipe excess paint out of the hairs on the body and inner ears.

  7. On the mouth use Jonas Cat Mouth to paint the inside of the mouth. Be sure to tape off the teeth first. Paint the tongue with Jonas Elk Mouth.

  8. After paint dries, use a burnt umber turpentine wash to paint over entire mouth. Mix one part burnt umber oil paint to 20 parts turpentine, and spread over entire mouth. Let dry.

  9. Finally, use Jonas Black to blend area around the outer lip onto the inner lip.

  10. Use Jonas Clear Gloss to paint carefully around eyelids, and spray a clear gloss inside nostrils, and over the entire mouth area.
