hydrocal is stronger than molding plaster, but is heavier, less porous, and easier to paint. Normal mixing consistency for best strength and to make a pourable slurry is 40 to 43 parts water to 100 parts hydrocal by weight. Average compressive strength dry is 5500 lbs. per square inch.
