Elephant Paint Schedule

Instruction Steps: (Recommended for Shoulder Mount)

  1. Putty all holes, cracks, nostrils, ears, etc. with a paintable material such as Magic Sculpt. Make sure to detail around tusks.

  2. Next, use Jonas African Gray to paint all areas of the body, being careful not to paint tusks.

  3. Use Jonas Dark Chocolate Brown to paint eyelids, inside nostrils, and inside inner ears. Also use to shade areas around the mouth.

  4. Use Jonas Black to paint eyelids, inside nostrils, and around tusks.

  5. After paint dries, use a soft cloth to wipe excess paint out of the hair on the body.

  6. When paint is dry, use a burnt umber turpentine wash to paint over entire body, mix one part burnt umber oil paint to 20 parts turpentine, and spread over the entire mount.

  7. Use Jonas Clear Gloss to paint carefully around eyelids, and spray a clear gloss inside nostrils.

  8. For an added touch, you can rub dry dirt all over the mount, and brush off excess.
