Bob Elzner, the 1986 World Champion bear taxidermist from Arizona, demonstrates his procedure for mounting an open-mouth shoulder mount black bear. Bob starts with a commercially tanned cape and goes through the entire mounting and finishing procedure for producing a commercial quality gamehead. Bob covers reference, field care, mannikin preparation, mannikin alterations, installing the jaw set, the bonded ear method, eye setting, eyelid sculpting, clay work, earbutts, hide paste, mounting, grooming, tucking and pinning the lips and nose, rebuilding the mouth and lips with epoxy, texturing the epoxy for a realistic appearance, using airbrush paints to finish the eyes, nose and lips, and finishing.
