Using Ammonium Sulfate

Ammonium Alum Directions:

Ammonium Sulfate is one of the most ideal de-liming agents. After de-hairing skins with Calcium Hydroxide (hydrated lime), pour 10 gallons of room temperature water into a container and add 8 ounces of Ammonium Sulfate.

If you wish to bate in the same de-liming solution, add 4 ounces of Oropon N-10®. Stir the contents well, and place de-haired skins in the solution. Agitate skins frequently for 2 to 3 hours. Remove and rinse skins in clear water. Next set up acid and salt pickling solution and proceed with tanning process.
