Using Urethane Foam

Urethane Foam is the handiest material in the shop!

Mix by weight both components together. Mix thoroughly by using an electric drill with paint mixing attachment. Mix 40-45 seconds, or until it turns creamy in color. Immediately use or pour into mold. Uafoam can be used in a fiberglass, metal, or plastic mold. It is a good idea to let the moisture go out of a fresh plaster mold before using. Put the fresh mold in a warm, dry place for 24-48 hours. Wax the mold with Johnson's wax or a similar type of wax just before foaming. A new mold will need 2-3 waxing's before use. After Uafoam has been poured into the mold, let the foam set in the mold 15-20 minutes or longer before removing. Urethane Foam is a closed cell product.

Approximate quantity-mixing guide for No. 5 density foam:

Small animal body (gray fox, etc) - 9 ounce A - 9 ounce B by weight.

Larger animals (coyote, deer head, etc. ) - 18 ounce A - 18 ounce B by weight.

Size of batches will have to be regulated by you as you go along. If you plan to use all the foam in a short time, you will not need to re-bottle. For longer storage situations, after you use some material from the container, it is a good idea to pour the remainder into clean bottles that have no water drops or moisture in them. Pour the bottles full so that they only have a very small air space.
