Using Thixotropic Silicone Rubber

THIXOTROPIC SILICONE RUBBER:

R-110 OMF A / RN-1124Bis a room temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber intended for brush-on molds which can also be used as a general purpose high strength rubber. The main features of this product are:

  1. Excellent physical properties with high tear resistance.

  2. Thixotropic paste material with vertical control.

  3. Excellent resin resistance.

Properties of Unvulcanized Material

TYPICAL Properties of the Cured Rubber
SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 1.11

ELONGATION AT BREAK: 200%
TEAR RESISTANCE: 80

METHOD OF USE:

  1. R-110 OMF A/RN 1124B is processed by adding the curing agent B. The addition of 5% catalyst (by weight) has a pot life of 1 hour and is ready for de-molding after 15 to 24 hours. RN-1124B has a trace of pigment for good dispersion.

  2. Apply first coat working out surface bubble with hair dryer or brush.

  3. Recoat part every hour with another coat. May be applied as thick possible to build-up to 3/8” thick.

  4. Material can be mixed and aged 30 minutes to build viscosity for thicker build up when applying.

  5. After the mold has been removed from the master, it should be left for 24 hours in order to develop its maximum mechanical strength. Vaseline or MR1500 may be used to release mold easily or to separate two halves of 2-piece mold. For quicker de-molding, but reduced mold shelf life, use 6% to 8% RN1124B (if using the entire quart - use entire catalyst).
