Using Super Solvent

Super Solvent Degreaser Directions:

When it comes to dissolving fat, natural oils and dried in grease, this product is truly a Super Solvent! It's a must if you are tanning bear, beaver, raccoon or other greasy skins. Super Solvent dissolves the fat and opens the fibers of  furs and skins to ensure a thorough tan. It is also an excellent degreaser for bird skins. Super Solvent is biodegradable. When disposing of this environmentally safe product, simply flush it into your sewage or septic system.

Three methods are recommended for using Super Solvent.

1. After relaxing the skins, and prior to placing them into the pickle, wash them in a Super Solvent bath for 30 minutes. Next, rinse and place the skins in a pickle.

2. When the skins have been thoroughly pickled, remove them from the pickle, drain and shave. After shaving the skins, wash in a Super Solvent bath for 30 minutes and return them to the pickle.

3. When the skins have been thoroughly pickled and are ready to pull put for tanning, add Super Solvent bath for 30 minutes and return them to the pickle.

Regardless of which method you prefer to use, mix your bath using the following formula.

For every gallon of water (or pickling solution), add 4 ounces (by weight) of Super Solvent. If a weight scale is unavailable, measure the correct amount of Super Solvent using 7 level teaspoonfuls = to 1 ounce, or use a measuring cup, 2 fluid ounces = 4 ounces by weight.
