Using Oropon

Oropon Directions:

Add 1/2 lb. Oropon to every 10 gallons of lukewarm water. After de-liming de-haired hides, place hides in Oropon solution. Tumble for several hours or let stand 6 to 8 hours in stationary vessel with frequent agitation. Rinse in clear water and proceed with the tanning process.

For one step de-liming and bating:

If you wish to bate in the de-liming solution (Ammonium Sulfate), add 4 ounces of Oropon to the 10 gallons of de-liming solution and mix well. Agitate skins frequently for 2 to 3 hours. Remove and rinse skins well in clear water, then begin the tanning process, starting with the pickling bath.
