Aluminum Sulfate is recommended to be used only as a light pickling for skins or as a partial tanning agent. This product is not recommended for full tanning because of the sulfuric acid that is left in the skin prior to its use and because of the lack of stretch. A small amount, however, can be used in the salt brine to help set the hair and make the skin easier to shave. 2-3 ounces per gallon is recommended.
