Sodium Sulfate

This solution is a wonderfully quick, easy and successful way to remove salt crystals from the hair, clean and further preserve the hides from moths, etc. Sodium Sulfate is also a great bleaching agent, aids to whiten fur and hair--good for pre-soak for stains such as urine stains, etc.

Sitr 1 lb. of sodium sulfate into 2 to 3 gallons of hot water. Make enough solution to cover the hides. Put the hides into this warm solution, agitate the water briskly, let it stand awhile, then plunge and agitate again. Then squeeze out the liquid and hang over a pole to drain, hair outward. After the hide stops dripping, proceed immediately to mount. Sodium sulfate is used as a washing agent in nearly all tanning work.
