Van Dyke's Game Fish Forms:

How to Measure:

A: The length of the fish, from the rear of the eye to the base of the tail, measured with the fish lying on its side.

B: The circumference, or girth, of the fish at the largest portion of the belly.

Abbreviations:

F=Female                 M=Male

MY=Muskie               SP=Spawning

LT=Left Turn            RT=Right Turn

SLT=S Curve, Left Turn

SRT=S Curve, Right Turn

STR=Straight          TS=Tail Straight

TU=Tail Up              TD=Tail Down

Taxidermy Tip:

The key to using traditional gamefish forms is to clean the skin of all meat, removing as much meat and bone from the head as possible. Before inserting the form into the head and base of tail area add a small amount of clay to create a smooth union between the form and head.

Important: When measuring your specimen, use an accurate tape and calipers to determine dimensions.
