Bactericide Instructions
Bactericide (PS-650)
Rittel's bactericide is an effective bactericide and fungicide. Unlike phenol, it only has a persistency of 8 months. It is an excellent phenol substitute. A bactericide is best used in your relaxing bath prior to pickling. It kills any bacterial growth, and protects it as relaxes. For relaxing bath add 1 fluid ounce of PS-350 for each 16 pounds of skins. This same dosage can also be used throughout the process. In high humidity and temperatures you may want to treat the skins with bactericide before salting but remember this is optional. When using as a spray, mix 1 pint of bactericide to 10 pints of water. Lightly spray the flesh and hair side of the skin and then apply salt.
Caution:
Eye and skin contact should be avoided when handling Bactericide PS-650. Use rubber gloves and goggles when pouring and handling. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Do not discharge Bactericide PS-650 solutions into lakes, streams, ponds, or public waters. Bactericide PS-650 is toxic to fish.
First Aid Instructions:
