Acid Bate

Acid Bate

Acid Bate is an enzyme that eats fat, thus producing a very soft, loose skin. Acid Bate works best at a low pH, within the range of 1.0-3.5. it is a white powder, and is used in the pickling solution. It does not promote hair or fur slippage. It dissolves and removes all excess gelantinous materials from the fibers, and is particularly recommended for use on sheep, bear, boar, beaver and raccoon skins, any skin which contains large amounts of natural grease. It is ideal for producing soft head areas in furs.

Directions:

Add 4 to 8 grams of Acid Bate to every 1 gallon of pickling solution. There are 28 grams per volume ounce.

Another formula is 1 ounce per 5 gallons of pickle.

Leave it on for the duration of the pickling.
