Using Tri-Clean Degreasing Solvent


Tri-Clean is a powerful, biodegradable emulsifier that releases instantaneous chemical action, which rapidly penetrated, fat and greases. Tri-Clean can be used as a dirt soak prior to pickling mammal skins. It is highly advisable however to go through overnight salting of deer, antelope, and elk, etc., prior to soaking skins. Soak the skin for this purpose no longer than 10 minutes. Make sure to clear water rinse skins thoroughly after soaking. Light skins such as Raccoon, Badger and Beaver can be soaked for 20 minutes. Again, rinse skins in clear water.

DEGREASING MAMMAL SKINS:

Light skins should be fleshed to the best of your ability prior to degreasing.

  1. Add 4 to 6 oz of Tri-Clean per gallon of cold tap water.

  2. Soak light skins for 30 minutes. Rinse skins thoroughly in cool tap water. Greasy light skins can be degreased a second time if so desired during the pickling process.

  3. After pickling period of 1 to 2 days, remove from the pickle and degrease again by using 2 to 3 oz of Tri-Clean per gallon of water. Soak for 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly in cool water and return to the pickle bath.

DEGREASING UPLAND GAMEBIRD & FISH SKINS:

Scrape bird and fish skins to the best of your ability prior to degreasing.

  1. Use a ratio of 1 ounce of Tri-Clean per gallon of water.

  2. Soak skins for 20 minutes. Remove the skin and rinse thoroughly in clear water.
