How To Measure Lifesize Bear Tip by Roger Martin

When the carcass is not available, how do you measure the skin so that you can order the proper form?

Measure the head BEFORE skinning.

Use calipers to measure the width of the head at the widest point.

Also use calipers to measure the eye to nose length.

Measure the chest width of the skin. Do not measure the chest at the corners of the skin.

Measure the belly width as was done on the chest.

Measure the total length from the nose to the base of the tail. Don't stretch the skin too much when making this measurement.

the length is the most critical when choosing a form. The legs are generally proportional to the length.

It is easier to alter the width of the belly and head than it is to alter the legs.
